Blend: Syrah 25%, Grenache 28%, Carignan 20%
Tasting notes: A deep ruby purple in colour, with blackberry and cassis complementing the spicy aromas. Subtle red berry fruit and cigar flavours with hints of cherries and leather on the finish.
We were extremely fortunate to source the wine from a multi-award-winning farm in the Breedekloof, which will have to remain anonymous😉. Located well above sea level in a dry, windy micro-climate, the smaller berries from the bush vines ripen slowly in the cooler conditions, with 10 months maturation in 2500 litre foudre oak barrels. Due to its large size, a foudre has a low wine-to-wood surface area ratio, which imparts less oak flavour and allows for a more gentle, subtle aging process. We are super proud of the end result!
