Andrew Ing began his wine journey in 2019 with his Lifestyle South African wine brand called GUN BAY.

Since 1806, two 18-pounder smoothbore muzzleloader cannons have been entrenched on Signal Hill, overlooking Cape Town’s Table Bay. One is fired daily at noon to mark midday.

This centuries-old tradition goes back to the days when sailing ships would shelter in Table Bay from the wild storms that battered the coastline, and the ship’s captains needed an accurate timepiece to calculate longitude before once more embarking on their perilous journeys. The Noon Gun ritual continues to this day, and a loud cannon-blast reverberates over the city to announce that GUN BAY wine is ready to be served.
